Christian Man Persecuted Simply For Driving 90 Miles Per Hour In School Zone
This article details the instance of "local evangelical Christian man Joshua Weller [who] was reportedly persecuted Tuesday simply for driving 90 miles per hour in a school zone." Last I checked, I don't think getting a speeding ticket for going a 90 in a 25 classifies as "persecution". Persecution is what happened to Jesus, but then again, if I recall correctly, he wasn't totally flooring it and putting the lives of children at risk. Weller claimed he was stopped for his "Jesus fish on [his] back windshield", yet a first Amendment right is one to religious freedom. A country that is primarily Christian and allows freedom in that sense would probably never have an officer pull someone over for a bumper sticker. He also makes for a sardonic retort when he thought he was just going to "hit [him] with some trumped-up charges" just because he is a man of God. Come again? Since when was putting the lives of kids in danger in line with the teachings of the Bible? And Weller was upset that he's getting a ticket? There are consequences for one's own actions, and in Weller's case, it just means paying a lot of money (and getting jailed but that's not the point). And if you weren't already feeling a little on edge about the things he was saying, then do not fret! He then makes the racist remark that implies that Muslim people are less likely to be pulled over for a DUI. In actuality, there is no proof that this is true at all, I couldn't find any studies that proves this one way or another. He's just making things up just to paint himself as the victim of religious hate. Getting a ticket doesn't necessarily make you a bad person, but making this about your religion by acting like a tortured minority does. Nobody would want to be around you and there are even portions in the Bible that imply pretending to be a victim is not good. Ultimately, this article is packed with the mentality and fallacies imbued in the culture of Christian extremists.
